Las Vegas 51s
Formerly known as the Las Vegas Stars, the Las Vegas 51s has been the minor league Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets since 2013. The Las Vegas 51s plays at Cashman Field and competes in the Pacific Coast League (PCL), the championship of which the 51s won as the Stars in 1986 and 1988. The name of the team comes from the infamous Area 51, which is located about 80 miles north near Rachel, Nevada. As a nod, the team logo jokingly depicts one of the grey aliens thought by UFO believers to inhabit that base.
