Monument to the Simulacrum
Created to celebrate the Las Vegas city centennial, the “Monument to the Simulacrum” sculpture by Stephen Hendee is a mountain-like steel structure at Centennial Plaza in Downtown Las Vegas that marks the site of the city of Las Vegas centennial time capsules, which will be opened in 2105. The spot originally was the site of the historic Las Vegas Grammar School (or 5th Street School) built in 1936, which is one of the only remaining Mission buildings of its era in Las Vegas.
